Welcome to the roadmap survey.
ePIXfab is a not-for-profit service organized by IMEC and CEA-LETI offering prototype silicon photonic IC fabrication and training of designers of silicon photonic ICs. The long-term mission is to support the construction of a silicon photonics ecosystem with fabless users, foundries and service providers in the whole food chain.
ePIXfab started as a research based MPW that only operated a basic MPW service. It is transforming to a professionalized service that also offers training, advanced technologies and a has a roadmap for access to the full food chain of silicon photonics technology through centers of expertise. This evolution is implemented in a European funded support action PhotonFAB.
In order to build this roadmap for the evolution of technology and service provisioning, PhotonFAB consults the current and potential users of ePIXfab, as well as a group of experts that was set up.
In this survey, you are asked to describe the evolution that you think is necessary in terms of access to silicon photonics technologies. We ask you to describe the necessary evolution for 3 purposes:
- your own research
- silicon photonics research in general
- industrialization of the technology
We ask you to distinguish between the short term, within 3 years from now, and the longer term, beyond 3 years from now.
This survey covers all aspects of the food chain: design, MPW, manufacturing, post-processing, packaging, test, training and standardization.
The question that is on the table is 'to which technologies should access become available at time X for purpose Y, and which services should be deployed'. It is not a technology roadmap.
As a participant in this survey, you will receive a copy of the roadmap. If you are a member of the expert group, we will send you the draft roadmap for review and further input.
Many thanks for your cooperation!
