Timeline of a shuttle run

A shuttle run is organized in several steps. The deadlines are announced on the shuttle run file.

Call announcement

The shuttle run schedule is available from the website. One to two months before the sign-in deadline of a shuttle, a call for participation is launched to the mailing list. Subscribe to the mailinglist to receive these and other announcements !

Subscription deadline

This is the deadline for letting the coordinator know you want to participate.

Send an e-mail to the coordinator with the necessary information:

  • Design size requested.
  • Processing options.

The possible design sizes as well as processing options are explained in the technology file of the technology offered in the shuttle.

Subscription negotiation

After the subscription deadline,

  1. ePIXfab will divide the mask space and satisfy your mask space request, iterate with the user on questions and on the cost
  2. The user will be given a cost bracket as well as a written quotation.
  3. The user sends a purchase order (P.O.) to IMEC.
  4. The user sends a signed NDA in two-fold (paper copies) to IMEC before the mask deadline.

Mask design

Be sure to follow our guidelines and adhere to the design rules !

Read this to avoid the most common errors or problems. This will reduce the chance for errors and your time spent on the mask design.

Mask deadline

This is the deadline (at 12PM CET) to submit your mask file.

Submit the mask file through either:

ePIXfab will check the design for design rule violations and manufacturability and iterate with the user. After this deadline, the design is frozen, the user can make only corrections to existing structures (because of design rule violations etc).

Cleared mask deadline

This is the deadline for the user to submit the mask cleared through our design rule check.

Wafers sent out

Fabrication is typically finished 2-3 months after the mask deadline, depending on the complexity.
